Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards
Greece has been ranked second worldwide among the preferred holiday destinations in this year's 38th annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards . Japan came first, followed by Portugal, Italy, Spain and Turkey. This is a top distinction as it came from a total of 757,109 readers' votes who participated in this year's survey of the iconic global tourism magazine. However, in addition to Greece as a whole, there are also great individual distinctions for Greek hotels, Greek islands and cities. Athens won the award for the 12th best European city , based on the overall level of visitor satisfaction, while Naxos was named the best island in Europe. In the same category of islands, Crete follows in 8th place, Corfu in 10th, Rhodes in 11th, Skiathos in 12th, Mykonos in 14th, Folegandros in 17th and Santorini in 18th. In the hospitality sector, the survey separated resorts from hotels. Greece excelled in both categories.
