British Tourists Behavior
According to the latest Ticket to Travel 2026 research, British tourists are demonstrating a significant enthusiasm and commitment to future travel, planning their holidays earlier than any other country in the EMEA region—an average of 4.9 months in advance. Despite broader economic challenges, a large majority (77%) plan to take the same amount or more trips in the coming year, with younger generations like Gen Z and Millennials leading the demand by booking significantly more getaways. These younger travelers are also quickly adopting new technology, with over half using Artificial Intelligence tools to search for or plan their itineraries. When it comes to booking, a trip’s price point through a special offer (38%) and customer reviews (34%) are the most critical factors influencing a purchase. Travel choices are increasingly driven by personal interests, a phenomenon dubbed "passion tourism," with food and drink, concerts, festivals, and sports being key motivators for booking. Furthermore, a trend called "Lux-scaping" is gaining traction, where nearly half of travelers book a high-end hotel stay to inject a touch of luxury at the start or end of an otherwise standard trip. The data confirms a strong sense of optimism, cementing travel as a top consumer priority across the UK.
