The Upward Trend of Greek Tourism
The upward trend of Greek tourism continues , with Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni stating, speaking to ERTnews and the "Newsroom" show, that 2025 is heading for a new record year, while "the first eight months already show an exceptional increase in revenue and a good increase in arrivals."
In fact, as he mentioned, Greece is "gradually winning the bet on deseasonalization" and "is now emerging as a twelve-month destination."
The minister recalled that 2024 was a “reference year” with revenues of 21.6 billion euros , noting that “we all understand what this means for the Greek economy.” For 2025, she emphasized that the first figures “are even better,” noting that the most encouraging thing is the improvement in qualitative indicators : “We have a very large increase in revenues, greater than the increase in arrivals, which shows a qualitative upgrade.”
Referring to her international contacts in Riyadh and London, she noted that Greece "is now among the top 10 destinations worldwide" and that major tour operators and airlines "are asking for long-term partnerships for the first time."
Regarding the new Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, Ms. Novak, he stated that "we have already started cooperation for more sustainable and inclusive tourism", while mentioning that Greece will be one of the first countries she will officially visit.
