The redevelopment of the Alimos Marina, a cornerstone project for the Athens Riviera, is moving into its implementation phase following several years of delays and administrative hurdles. The project—spearheaded by the AKTOR Group (formerly Ellaktor) through its subsidiary REDS—is expected to begin full-scale construction in 2026. With a construction timeline estimated at approximately 20 to 24 months, the latest projections suggest a completion window around 2028, though some stakeholders view this target as an optimistic milestone rather than a fixed deadline.
The €100 million investment aims to transform the largest marina in the Balkans into a modern maritime and lifestyle hub. The plan covers a land area of 210,000 square meters and features a "green" architectural approach with low-profile buildings to preserve sea views. Key developments include a high-end hotel on the western side near Edem Beach, specialized facilities for mega-yachts, and extensive commercial zones for retail, dining, and office use along Poseidonos Avenue. Beyond its maritime function of hosting 979 vessels, the marina is designed as a civic destination, incorporating pedestrian paths, cycle lanes, and a Municipal Art Gallery. This redevelopment is intended to integrate the marina seamlessly into the urban fabric of Alimos, enhancing its role as a key gateway for Mediterranean yachting while dents and international visitors alike.
