Must See the Athens Coastline, Escape Tourist Crowds
Being the second most significant project after the Ellinikon in Athens Riviera, the "Aenaon" Metropolitan Park is entering its final stage with the upcoming signing of the contract.
The long-awaited transformation of Faliro Bay ambitious project, with a budget of approximately €320–370 million represents one of Greece’s most significant urban regenerations, aimed at reconnecting the city of Athens with its coastal front.
Spanning over 540,000 square meters, the park is designed by the renowned Renzo Piano Building Workshop, following the principles of the New European Bauhaus. The "Aenaon" (meaning "Everlasting") theme focuses on sustainability and climate resilience. Key features include the planting of 4,000 trees and 210,000 Mediterranean shrubs, ensuring that over 75% of the area remains green.
The redevelopment will feature a 1.4 km coastal promenade, sports facilities (basketball, beach volleyball, and squash), outdoor cinemas, and playgrounds. Crucially, the park will bridge the gap between the city and the sea via pedestrian walkways and the existing Esplanade, linking directly to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).
Managed by the Region of Attica, the project includes vital flood protection infrastructure and aims for completion by late 2028. Once finished, it will provide a free, high-quality public space that serves as a green lung for the metropolitan area.
1852 Private Boat Tours is based in Athens Riviera, a local Premier Private Cruises operator, that is following closely the developments in the area and participating in sustainability actions regarding the Riviera.
